Hospital Terapy Workshop
Hospital and Therapy Workshop - Mosaic Lamp Making | DIYLabs Ontario
DIYLabs offers therapeutic Turkish mosaic lamp workshops for hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and wellness programs across Ontario. Designed with care and flexibility, our sessions provide patients and residents with a meaningful creative outlet - one that supports mindfulness, fine motor engagement, and a genuine sense of personal achievement during what can be a challenging time.
The Therapeutic Value of Mosaic Making
Creative art activities have long been recognised as a valuable complement to medical and therapeutic care. The focused, repetitive nature of mosaic lamp making - selecting colours, placing tiles, building a pattern piece by piece - encourages a calm, present-moment awareness that supports stress reduction and emotional regulation. At the same time, the physical act of handling and placing small tiles provides gentle exercise for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Crucially, the process ends with a finished lamp - a tangible, beautiful object that the participant created themselves. This sense of completion and personal expression can be deeply meaningful for individuals navigating illness, recovery, or long-term care.
Adapted for Clinical and Care Settings
Our instructors are experienced in working within hospital and care environments. We adapt every aspect of the session to suit the physical and emotional needs of participants - adjusting tile sizes, simplifying assembly steps, providing one-on-one support, and pacing the session to match the group's energy and capacity. Sessions can be conducted at bedside, in common rooms, or in therapy spaces, depending on the facility's layout and patient needs.
We work closely with activity coordinators, occupational therapists, and care staff to ensure our workshops integrate smoothly into existing programs and schedules.
Fully Mobile - We Come to Your Facility
DIYLabs brings all materials, tools, and equipment to your hospital or care facility. There is no need for participants to travel. Our team handles setup, instruction, and cleanup, minimising disruption to your facility's routine. Sessions typically run 1 to 2 hours and can be adjusted to suit your program's requirements.
